Why Should I Choose ICF Insulated Concrete Forms in Alberta?Durability, Strength and Efficiency
ICF – A Better Way to Build
An ICF consists of two panels of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam insulation. Both panels of EPS insulation are held together with engineered cross ties or “webs” that are molded into the foam to create a block. This block is called a “form unit”.
Reinforcement bars are placed horizontally and vertically in the ICF. Concrete is then poured into the ICF and the final product is an insulated, reinforced concrete wall.
By keeping air and moisture out, ICFs lower the potential for allergens and mold meaning that buildings are safer and healthier to live, work and play in. Standing up to Alberta winds of up 250 +MPH/hr, and fire for up to four hours, a building with an ICF structure, will provide peace of mind for those inside.
Benefits of ICF Construction in Alberta
EPS has great insulating capacity. Because of this and because of the thermal mass of concrete, the building insulation step is already done, which reduces the cost over traditional construction methods.
Once in place, the concrete adheres perfectly to the ICF panels with no air leakage. ICF walls are load bearing ones with strength and durability far beyond traditional structures. Resistance to fire and natural disasters, eco-friendly, comfort, strength and economics are only a few of the NUDURA® ICF benefits.
The NUDURA® system has great versatility: One panel does it all. It adapts to any architectural design with unconstrained interior and exterior sidings and finish. Let your imagination soar!
ICF Helps Earn LEED Points in Alberta
NUDURA icfs are manufactured from EPS (Expanded Polystyrene). NUDURA’s unique folding web design is manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene and steel.
NUDURA icfs have been laboratory tested and will not support mold growth unlike traditional wood frame structures providing healthier indoor living and working environments
NUDURA icfs offer a structure built out of concrete, one of the most durable building materials which result in high impact resistance and maximum safety in high wind areas.
A NUDURA structure can provide Performance Values as high as R-50, saving up to 70% in annual energy costs. As a result, the structure’s carbon footprint on the environment.
The unique 4-Way Reversible System from NUDURA creates less waste during the construction process, sending less waste to our landfills. All waste is 100% recyclable.
Improved Indoor Air Quality
NUDURA icfs do not emit CFC’s or HCFC’s while providing an airtight structure that is more efficient and results in improved indoor air quality.
